Sit Stand Desking

At Total Back Care, we believe in the importance of movement and variability in posture to relieve existing back pain and prevent further episodes occurring. We also recognise that humans vary in height and seated body length. Just as you wouldn’t expect all members of staff to wear the same size shoes, Nor should you expect them to all sit at the same height desk. A British standard height desk is 72.5cm and will usually suit a body frame of 165cm -175cm. For anyone else, the height of the desk will need re-adjusting.

A simple solution to an existing desk, for a single user, is desk raisers. These are blocks which can be made to measure and inserted beneath the legs of the desk to raise it to the necessary height for the user. Simple, yet effective ergonomics.

A more advanced solution however, comes in the form of height adjustable, sit stand, electric desking. This is particularly advantageous for groups who share the same workstation – i.e. "Hotdesking" or shift working environments. Electric operation means that people can adjust their own desk height, which is also useful for wheelchair users.

Individuals benefit from the ability to alternate between seated and standing positions during the working day – hence the term ‘sit stand’ desking. Popular in Scandinavia, at the press of a button, the desk can be raised or lowered to suit.

Total Back Care selects electric desking across the entire ConSet range. Developed in collaboration with the Danish Technical Institute to meet European standards, ConSet A/S are specialist suppliers of electric desking. Their range provides an almost endless assortment of shapes, sizes and colours and represents surprisingly good value for money. Frame capacities range from 70kg to 200kg, with a choice of top sizes and shapes, dependent on the types of tasks undertaken by the user.

Always seek advice from a medical therapist or back care specialist before purchasing back care products.
