A good night's sleep is essential to your health & wellbeing but can be very hard to achieve when suffering from back or neck pain. Don't be influenced by mass market gimmicks: 'orthopaedic' is often used to describe a mattress which is too firm. Your shoulder & hip need to 'sink' into the mattress to ensure spinal alignment when lying on your side. 'Memory foam' is everywhere but for some conditions, particularly arthritic ones where ease of movement is important, it may not be suitable.
When buying a new mattress or bed, make sure you lie on it for at least 20 minutes - anything can feel comfortable for 10 minutes if you've been on your feet for a few hours! At Total Back Care, we have a dedicated, private room for trialling beds & pillows. You can spend as long as you like trying out our sleeping options, without embarrassment or disturbance. Our Assessors, who have all received extensive training from Harrison Beds, on top of their medical & ergonomic knowledge, will check your spinal alignment whilst you judge comfort & support.
As every body is different, all our beds can be tailor made to suit the individual: extra length / width can be added and each side of a larger bed can be independently sprung to suit each partners needs.
